Hello,
I have taken a Beretta U-22 pistol in because the safety is stuck in the on/down position.
Does anyone have some insights on this? Or maybe the dissassembly info??
Thanks!
Bill P

If it will help, the U22 Neos is the old Colt .22, which was the Colt Cadet (before Iver Johnson threatened suit), which was the old High Standard Duramatic.
But the older versions had a pushbutton safety while the Neos has an up-down safety. The takedown should be the same. Briefly, remove the magazine, retract and lock back the slide, unscrew the barrel screw and lift the barrel straight up. Then release the slide stop, letting the slide go forward off the frame. Careful with the firing pin and recoil springs.

Thanks Jim,
I have it field stripped but need to get the receiver apart to see why the safety is jammed down.
I'll get the Colt paper out..

Hi there Willp58. Check out my Neos guide for further disassembly info. Lots of pictures and instruction there. I'm happy to help if you need any more guidance than that.

Will, did you figure out the problem? I'd like to have the info on hand should mine get stuck on safe some day.

Justin,
I found that the owner had taken this pistol down and had assembled the firing pin and springs out of order.
I got it torn down and after the firing pin was removed, I could then move the safety switch.
Many thanks to hexidismal..The instructions are excellent!
