Well here she is, my commander length S&W 1911PD. I got her bobtailed and I am absolutely amazed at how nice she is to carry. I really wondered how much difference this would make. The holster is an Andrew's MacDaniel with the sweat shield...the best, most comfortable IWB holster I've ever owned, which has been a few. I made the grips out of Afziela wood...the pics aren't even close to how beautiful these grips really look. I also added stainless safety and slide release. She shoots as beautifully as she looks.

I had a polymer Main Spring Housing on my S&W 1911 - Arched and it had
20 LPI checkering that dug into the palm of my hand. I went
shopping at Brownells - they offer 10 or more of various types
by several manufactueres. I got the Les Baer Custom
stainless steel ( to match my SW1911 ) flat with vertical
serrations MSH I think it was just under $40. I gave the gun to
my gunsmith and he suggested a Titanium MS Cap as well as
hammer strut. The MS Cup fits onto the top of the MS and
is connected to the Hammer strut.... they're both moving
parts so lighter = quicker ignition time at least that's the idea.
He fitted it as well as polishing the inside of the tube in which
the MS resides and moves, for $20 fitting and about
$12 for the Ti parts it didn't require me wearing safety glasses
or hunting for carpet soluble parts/springs. It looks great
it isn't exactly flush the serrations stick out a bit but an
equal amount from top to bottom Feels great in the grip
and firing the gun.
