I use a bronze brush on my barrels every time after I fire them. Bronze is softer than steel, so won't mess barrels up. The two products you mentioned are favorites, so I see no problem using them. Personally, from a half-century of habit, I use Hoppe's #9.

Yes, use a bronze brush. Just make sure you don't reverse directions in the middle of the barrel. It won't hurt the barrel but will bend or break the bristles on the brush.

clp is alright, but there are much better solvents out there to clean out a barrel, i use bronze brushes no problems.

you would have much better luck with solvents like shooters choice copper solvent, and if you shoot lead then thier lead remover is hard to beat.

it would take you alot of strokes with a brush to damage a barrel

This is primarily all we use on our range now. Its alcohol based and after you wipe it down and evaporation, you have a minimal film of lubricant left. Because it is alcohol based instead of petroleum based, in cold weather it does not make the action sluggish. You can't hardly get a weapon to rust with this on it. It is also a good cleaner. Navigate the site - they got some great testimonials.

I personally like to soak my barrels in Hoppe's till they turn green to get the copper out.
