Painting a Stock

I want to paint the ugly gray Stock on my Stevens 200 another color. Do I have to get special paint or would some regular Krylon spray paint be adequate?

id use either duracoat or a spray on truck bed liner (believe it or not i have heard good results)

i think that regular krylon wouldnt stay on well but i may be wrong

The bedliner idea would probably work great.

Can bedliner be bought at Home Depot or Lowes?

Krylon makes some paint specifically formulated for plastic called FUSION. When properly applied this stuff simply will not come off as it actually bonds with the plastic molecules. Conviently the make this stuff in their camo color line.

Bedliner would SUCK in bad way the stuff would be like putting a cheese grater against your cheek

These stocks were shot with fusion paint. The brown is bare fusion with a light spatter pattern in flat black. The green is acryllic enamel over a fusion prime coat. Both are as durable as any "gun specific" coatingread paint:rolleyes: you'll find

a guy on another forum said he did this with net pantyhose and a couple colors of krylon. I hung on to it because I thought it had potential.

Krochus, thanks AGAIN for even more help. You're the best.

That panty hose thing is crazy! I don't think I have those skills. A solid color is going to best for me I think. Would black look ugly?

Krylon Fusion is the right choice as already mentioned.

I don't see why black would look ugly. Most synthetic stocks are black so if you like those you will like yours black. And though normal krylon will wear off it is a simple fix.

once applied and given a week to cure Krylon Fusion can then be painted over with any other Acrylic Enamel

What does the acrylic enamel do

What does the acrylic enamel do

it give you access to all the colors of the rainbow in case you wanted to paint something wild. The fusion line only comes in Camo colors and a few of your basic colors.

EXAMPLE: I've always wanted a blaze orange stock but Fusion isn't offered in that color. But if painted with a base coat of fusion then a normal can of hunter orange will stick.

Although everytime I go to wally world they seem to have added more colors. Krylon fusion is the best thing to happen to spray paint since the invention of the shaker marble.

Well I think I'm going to just go plain old black, or maybe a dark green like olive. I can't decide

It's not like krylon costs a fortune. Start with black, if you don't like it paint it whatever.

Yep. That was my intention.

I have also used engine block paint, with good results.
