Colt 1/7 heavy barrel accuracy?

The Century C15 Sporter I just bought has a 1/7 rifled extremely thick barrel installed.

She is a hodge-podge of new and used parts, with Colt upper and small parts throughout salvaged from surplus M16 A2 rifles. She does have all new furniture, and lower receiver, plus a small part here and there look to be new.

Despit being a refurbed "Franken rifle", she's a fairly close match for a Colt AR-15 A2 H-BAR Sporter. Has either a new barrel, or a mint bore, and the weapon itself is fairly tight. Does have a minor bit of wobble between the upper and lower, however an "Accu-Wedge" seems to reduce this to negligble. Century has turned out at least one pretty decent gun!

Shoots great. I was impressed with the off-hand accuracy. A bit of fiddling with the unfamiliar A2 rear sight, and I had it shooting plenty accurate for iron sight shooting.

Thinking I might scope this thing and just see what Jim Zumbo got fired for! I would like to see just what the "fabled A2" will do.

So what sort of 100 meter accuracy might I expect if my new rifle preforms? A loaded question, I know, reflecting the bullet weight/rifling turn ratio issues!

1" or better average rack grade can shoot that. There's a lot more going into a MATCH grade weapon than just the barrel. Really depends on the ammo you use, sights, trigger, you feed her good stuff and she will treat you very well but you start putting in a bunch of junk surplus your gonna know it.

It should shoot anyhting 62 grains or higher with a very good degree of accuracy. I have shot target with open sights out to 300m from a stnding position using standard green tip Army stuff. About a 60% hit ratio, but, again, I was standing.

I think the best bang for your buck in improving long-range AR accuracy is getting a good trigger. Rock River's is fantastic, and well worth the 80 bucks.
