Shooting happiness with a 12 guage

Yesterday, my dream of dreams came true. Haven't even had much success with clays on the one occasion I practiced, but I was able to bring down 8 Doves yesterday, and proudly carry them home.

It's an incredible high, to be on prairie land along the Arkansas River, with Dove in season, 74 degree weather, and birds flying like snow flakes all day practically.

Not only that, I've taken apart the Mossberg so many times and reassembled it that its a sure thing to clean it quickly.

I also use recommended stuff from experts on The High Road. Odorless Mineral Spirits for cleaning, Mobil One Motor Oil for lubricating.

I don't use those storebought patches anymore. I cut 4" square sections out of old white tee-shirts for running down the barrel, and then wash them for next time.

What a neat thing shotgunning is.:):):):):):):):)

Congratulations on a good day out, BRD.

I've been focusing on pistols lately, but reading your nice post reminds me I need to take my neglected Mossberg back out to the trap range sometime soon.

Hey, Thanks Douglas and Dave McCracken.

I was out at the 6th Annual Colorado Get Together, and it was a beautiful day, weatherwise and spiritwise.

I was very unsure of hitting what I aimed at, but in the end, instinctive shooting serve me fairly well.

Now, I need to apply what I learned from Gaiudo about leading a bird anywhere from 1 to 4 feet.

Gaiudo is a fantastic shot with his over-under. He was taking sudden shots on solitary birds springing out of nowhere, and taking birds moving high and fast also. I have a long way to go. But the satisfaction of hitting some of what I aimed at is almost beyond description. What a wonderful feeling.
