Taurus Mod 651 cylinder scoring

I have a blued Taurus Mod 651 which is forming a rather heavy scoring around the cylinder where the hand drags slightly as the cylinder rotates. The score mark isn't the same length between each notch in the cylinder, it goes from notch to notch on all but two and half way on them. Does this mean my cylinder could be slightly out of round? Is that a big problem? Can I gently file down the hand so that it doesn't continue to score?
The gun seems to shoot OK but the score mark gets me PO'd when I look at it.
Forgive me if I don't use all the correct terms and I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
Thanks alot----Jed

Cylinder scoring is inevitable, in my experience. It always drags against the cylinder. I suppose it's conceivable somebody could invent a way to retract the cylinder stop, but it would strike me as a hypercomplexification that would probably increase the unreliability factor.

Your cylinder may be slightly out of round, probably the result of uneven polishing prior to bluing. You could measure it with calipers to determine how far out of round. If the chambers all line up with the barrel the same way, the cylinder's unevenness shouldn't be a problem, unless it's so prounced it affects rotation.

Sounds like cylinder stop dragging, not hand.
Common to have a drag line.
Like Standing Wolf said, not to worry.

DONT alter the stop.

S&W revolvers (of which the Taurus is a copy) normally show drag marks after a very short period of use. As long as the cylinder stop spring is not powerful enough to actually dent the metal (as opposed to just wearing off the bluing), don't worry about it.
