I've found that I can dramatically smooth the trigger feel (started with my Saiga, now it's my G26, next it's going to be my M&P 40) by polishing specific pieces in the action (disconnector, etc). The end result really is amazing :what:

I'm using a dremel right now and starting with a bronze brush, then finishing by buffing with some tetra gun grease. I know this isn't the perfect progression, but it's working pretty fantastic so far...

My question is: What do people normally use to do a fine polish job on metal internals?

Flitz or red rouge metal polish. On the Dremel I use a rubber drum for the sander and put Flitz on the wheel. Rouge I put on one of the cotton or felt wheels. If you use anything more aggressive than the above two polishes on the Glock internals you can easily and quickly cut through the protective chrome plating on some of the parts. The chrome is quite thin and will not wear out under normal use. But once you start cutting through it watch out.

I have some Jeweler's rouge. Red, black and white.

Semi-Chrome, made by Happich. I believe this stuff would make chert rocks shine!

Stones on anything that involves actual operation of the firing mechanism.
You can polish the sides of hammers and other fire components.

Hammer hooks and sears need to be sharp and crisp to function correctly.

For general rubbing disconnector might be OK, but the actual engagement surfaces should only be stoned.

The rounding of edges from non-rigid polishing methods is NOT a good idea on critical parts.
