Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a FFL dealer in the Chicago area - specifically western suburbs. I need to find a new FFL dealer who can handle a shotgun with pistol grips. :)

Thanks ahead of time for the help.

There aren't very many left any more, since King Richard took the Cook County throne. The one I go to most often is Maxon Shooters Supply in Des Plaines, not too far west of Chicago and easily accessible from I-294:

www.maxonshooters.com
1226 Rand Rd
Des Plaines, IL 60016
(847) 298-4867

Another good dealer is Midwest Guns in Lyons, SW of the city:

www.midwestguns.com
8565 Plainfield Rd
Lyons, IL 60534
(708) 447-4848

Then there's R Guns way out west in Carpentersville. They specialize in old military surplus and new AR-15's:

www.rguns.net
140 N Western Ave #B
Carpentersville, IL 60110
(847) 428-3569

There's one other in Lincolnwood, very close to Chicago. They do tactical stuff for local police, SWAT, security guards, etc. But then a shotgun with pistol grips may be right up their alley:

Shore Galleries
3318 W Devon Ave.
Lincolnwood, IL US 60712
(847) 676-2900

There are about half a dozen others listed in online Yellow Pages and such, but when you call, you get a "number disconnected" message.

Good luck.

Cabela's is also a good source. They'll transfer your shotgun without any issue. I've dealt with them a few times and they've only been helpful and friendly.

The dealers such as Maxon's are spendy!! Smaller guys that specialize in transfers rather than counter sales are a lot more reasonable.
$25 from John Amato below ... my other guys are way out in the boonies and run $15 - $20

JOHN L AMATO

THIN BLUE LINE, INC
362 GEORGETOWN SQ
WOOD DALE, IL 60191
phone: 630-860-7807
fax: 630-860-5709
Hours: Mon-Fri 10:00am-4:30pm
Transfer fee: $25.00

The location is on Irving Park Road, a few miles west of York/Elmhurst road.

I think Maxon charges $45. Phil's Village Sports Center charges $44. It seems that your best bet is John in Wood Dale. I was unaware of such an FFL. I think I will be doing business with him in the future.

Thanks for helping me out too guys. I didn't even initially know that I needed the help. :)
