Found a weird Glock 17 hi-cap

I picked up another non-FML Glock 17 magazine a couple of days ago. When I got it home I began to load it, and discovered that it wouldn't accept more than fifteen rounds. Closer inspection revealed two small pins had been installed underneath the number 14-15 witness holes. The magazine also appears to have been converted to FML. There is also a crest stamped onto the rear of the magazine, which looks like an acorn with the letter "N" inside. Glock FAQ (http://www.glockfaq.com) does not have this odd variant listed.

I have heard of some countries with a 15 round magazine limit for pistols. Could this be Norwegian or Dutch?

There have been some Norwegian Glock mags for sale lately in the U.S. I didn't know about the 15 round limit.

I have 2 of these mags now and 1 has been flawless and the other had some feeding problems at first. I loaded it up and let it sit for a couple weeks and it has been OK ever since. One of the mags drops free when loaded the other doesn't.

As far as it only taking 15 rounds I've never had that problem. Have you checked that the base plate is on correctly? Maybe the tab on the inside of the mag is blocking the springs compression? I now have +2 bases on all my standard cap mags and they are working just fine.

Ah, so the pins have nothing to do with the capacity? Perhaps I am having a problem with something impinging on the compression of the spring. The problem is, I can't remove the baseplate for the life of me. I already tried to disassemble the mag to see what the deal was. I guess I can give it another shot.

Place the back edge of the baseplate on the edge of a table.

Squeeze the sides hard and while holding the pressure...

Push down HARD.

I've never heard of anyone breaking one.

This particular baseplate was much more difficult to remove than the others. I was wary of trying too hard since I was considering returning it to the retailer. My second attempt was successful, however. I didn't find anything wrong, so I reassembled it. Now it loads 17 rounds quite easily. Go figure. Thanks for your help.
