A Question for Pro and Anti Alike...

In a not-so-quick scan and read of L&P tonight, I found a couple really strong threads re our current "national situation". One, a deep insight into the current and probable future re Iraq and the overall "War on Terror" http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38971, the other, the potential political fall-out between now and the '04 election re the pressure of the AWB sunset and how it fits the politics of the times http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39024.

Toss in - the (maybe) forthcoming California governor's race where control of the state may change California's affect on the '04 election, the current liquidity of who will be the Democratic party's '04 candidate, the press for stronger Patriot law on one side and weaker law on the other, and the incessant noise and activities of anti-firearms people/groups who always seem to have money and power positions to espouse their rhetoric - and we have the makings of a better than "interesting" year to come.

So... I have a question:

Since we are at war with people who want our national and personal death and we must expect further action on our home turf, and few of their potential targets are hardened and guaranteed(?) safe, how is it possible that there are people in the United States of America who want to disarm the nation - particularly in an era with so potential a need for personal and national defense???

Those who would disarm us play into the hands of our enemies; there is no state, city, town, street, home, school, business, adult, or child that is immune from attack. Americans should know this by now. It is no longer pre-9/11/01 - this is post 9/11 and the world won't ever be quite the same for Americans.

The wake-up call has trumpeted - it calls for awareness, preparedness, readiness, and commitment. Let not the passage of time with seemingly no further mischief, dull the senses. Evil is afoot - and will be for some time to come.

Please heed the call, one and all - Support personal and national defense.

You don't have a question, you have propaganda. Not that there's anything WRONG with that. :D

Because, duh... thanks to our lax gun laws we have terrorists buying unregistered semiautomatic AK-47s through the gun show loophole, and we're constantly hearing about those terrorist shootings at malls and pizza parlors all over America, as opposed to the peace and tranquility in Israel, where they'll send a Palestenian to jail over a pocket knife.

I mean, it's only common sense.

My .02, about 60-70% of the people in this country would disagree with the above (the danger part, not necessarily the disarming part).

For these folks, the danger of 9/11 went away right about Xmas 2001, when the final hoopla from the anthrax scare went away and the "battle" phase of Afghanistan was won.

People stopped caring about Islamic terrorism and went back to caring about "Survivor" and "American Idol".

Business as usual, so of course the already underway disarmament movent would continue as before....

Because some people value safety more than freedom.
