BHP Finish question...

Guys, I just acquired my second Hi Power, a 1981 vintage. I have a question. My '69 looks just gorgeous, bright deep blued finish. The '81 is a bit subdued in comparison. When I stuck it in my Milt Sparks rig, it was a bit of a tight fit. I pulled it out, and the finish where the holster rubbed it was gorgeous, almost mirror like. What can I use to get the entire pistol's finish to look like that? Is there a compound or something that can be used on a blued finish?
Thanks, Mikey D...

Well, I have never heard of that problem. I DON'T KNOW, so don't take this without a good grain of salt, but I would think that you could use some automotive polish or or rubbing compound to do that, or probably safer, you could go to a leather shop, buy some leather, and rub the rough side all over the pistol until you are happy. It'd probably be more uniform that way, too.

Or...give it a good wipe down with a RIG rag.

Use some "Flitz" with a soft cloth constantly changing the earea on the cloth. This will clean it and protect it and is safe on Blue if you don't get carried away. Bren

Flitz I've heard of, but I gotta ask... what's a RIG rag?

RIG rag...
Little dab of R.I.G. (Rust Inhibiting Grease) rubbed into the wooly side of a piece of sheepskin.
Great for anti corrosion but also often makes dulled blue look sharp.

Thought I'd try the leather idea first, since I had an inexpensive Bianchi soft leather holster laying around the house... worked perfectly! Thanks for the suggestions, guys...
