..just saw this on an auction.
It asked 320 Euros and one person
was wealthy enuff to bid for it.

Looks like a prototype/selfmade weapon to me,
or are there any makes out there.......
other than the replicas of the navy pistolknives?

Cheers, Mp7

Looks like a Replica of a Elgin Cutlass that the U.S. Navy "& possibly others" used during the early 1830's to maybe 1850's.

Looks like a fine piece.

Interesting, but the blade work looks a bit rough...

Yes, it looks like one of the replicas that were put out in kit form back in the 1970s. They also did the Pepperbox, & 'Snake-Eyes' double barrel.

Update: Just did a search & they are still available along with all the other kits Ethan Allen put out. http://www.fcsutler.com/fckitguns.asp

The blade does look pretty poor, but cool gun. Just don't let your hand slip when loading

I recognize the pistol as a kit that they were calling the Philadelphia Derringer back in the 70s. The knife is just an add on. Looks like it was turned out in some basement work shop.

You can get a "modernized" version that fires modern cartridges (I've seen these in 38 Special and 22 LR, and the website seems to show them in 45 Auto and 9mm) called the Powell Knife Pistol; see http://www.sanjuanenterprise.com/html/products.html and http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=108282493

The 2002 Dixie Gun WOrks catolog on my desk had them for US$94.95 listed as "Classic Arms Cutlass Pistol Kit

.44 Smothbore

Takes 12 grains FFFg with .433 ball with .015 patch and size #11 patches

2002 catalog Number: PH1303

Same kit without the knife.trigger gaurd "New Orleans Ace" was US $54.95

Catlog number PH1400

Back in the 1970's this was also available with a rifles barrel, ask me how I know. I only fired bird shot in it anyway as back then I could not find appropriate ball.

Classic also offered a four shot non indexing pepperbox, a side by side double barrel Deringer called Snake-eyes, a twist barrel two shot, and a horizontal divergent three barreled "duck foot".
