As someone who lived in the greater Gainesville area for over twenty years, I had to laugh at the idea that only Republicans would be allowed to move there.

It is a very diverse community, and you will likely find kindred spirits there no matter where you fall on the political, economic, or religious spectrum. Lots of very pro-2A Democrats there, for example - I had a very interesting discussion with several of them just this past week. It is NOT a place that lends itself to stereotyping, LOL.

I posted this in another thread, but since we are all from Florida maybe one of you could give me info.

Does anyone here live in the Tampa area or know of any professional training in the area? Funds are tight with me just loosing my job (15 yrs with financial institution) thanks to Corp America. The one's I have found are a couple of days for about $300.

We had a burgulary about 3 weeks ago (during the day 10 am and 1 pm) and we had several guns stolen. All but a 1911 were recovered. Ya gotta love cainine's.

The thief was a neighbor's kid (17). Cops think he could be part of a gang and that's where the 1911 went. I was shocked to know we even had gangs living so close (some within a few miles). We live in a nice quiet area. I am concerned that his friends might try something. I would not be so concerned if the thief was a stranger that did it.

We since have put in an alarm sys and are pricing safes. I now carry and I wonder if we are being over the top with being worried.

I was raised around firearms and can handle them fine, but I'd feel better if I had some professional training to really handle myself if I had to.
