Simmons Aetec battery replacement (illuminated reticle)

so my friend just got an Aetec, and we brought the scope with us on a trip, but lo and behold, he didn't bring the box (which has the instruction manual in it), so we're baffled as to where the battery goes for the illuminated reticle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

On the rheostat, the part that turns the power on and controls the intensity, you should see a large slot. Hold the rheostat with one hand and insert a quarter with the other hand and unscrew. After removing the cover you should see a flat disc battery(2032 I think) remove and replace. When you put the new battery in be sure it goes in the correct way, + to + and - to -, it is position sensitive. Good luck.

No luck, apparently the fine folks at Simmons decided to tighten the damn thing to the point where a pair of pliers couldn't even get the damn thing loose. Time to send a nasty letter to Simmons, I suppose...
