I have a buddy who is putting plans together for getting a .50 and is starting to price things out. He would like to find a scope and rings for a .50 cal for 1500.00 and under.

Any *specific* scope and ring combos are appreciated.

When I had my 50 I had gone with the Leupold Mark 4 scope and Burris Xtreme Tactical rings. The scope rings have three screws per side and are all steel. That combo held up for the time frame before I sold my gun. I think I probably paid about $1350 for the set-up. Here is where I got the scope.

any idea about a base? My buddy is wanting a Barrett 99.

Barretts have built in rails. You just bolt on the rings.
You won't need base unless you need built in moa.

Don't forget to lap the rings. On some scopes, warranty will be voided if you didn't lap the rings.
