I recently wrote to Hi-Point about making a 45acp carbine.. This was their responds.
Hi,
The carbine is in prototype at this time. Release date will probably be late 2008 early 2009. This is a picture of the new prototype stock.
Thank you,

That's actually less ugly than I thought it would be. Dad has a Hi-Point .45; maybe he'll want one.

That gun has been 'coming soon' for years now. Don't get too excited waiting for it.

Will it accept Glock magazines?

Blofeld .....And the benefit of this would be....?
Personally I would like to have a carbine in the same caliber as my carry pistol. That would be a benefit to me, as for you , You'd have to find your own benefit

And the benefit of this would be....?Same as my hipoint 995 carbine-Fun! My 9mm is so impressively accurate and reliable (and ugly), I can spend hours shooting that thing and picking off clays at about 75 yards.
Will it accept Glock magazines? It will probably take Hi Point magazines. The 40 carbine magazines are interchangeable with the 40 pistol as I understand it. My expectations are they will do the same with the .45.
That prototype pictures been out about a year now. Apparently they've dropped the chrome and that guy got a haircut. I'm glad for both of these things.
It was supposed to release over a year and a half ago. ever few months they move the release date back a few months. I've stopped holding my breath. But I'll buy one as soon as it's available.

For me, it would make a nice plinker if .45 wasn't so expensive. Their 9mm makes more sense, from a sheer economics viewpoint.
Is there some practical purpose for a .45 ACP carbine? Not hating, just curious.

Another POS from Hi-Point...yippeeAnother useless hipoint bash from a clueless non-owner...yippee
My 9mm carbine has over 11,000 rounds thru it now. It's never failed me.
My Hi Point C9 pistol had over 5k when I traded it it with no issues.
Again, it seems the only people with bad things to say are those snobbish types who have never owned one. Yet owners report great reliability and accuracy. Guess who's opinion I'll put more faith in?

And your point for the comment was?
He did not ask what anyone thought of the piece, did not conduct a poll to see how many people wanted one..

I just got the ATI stock for my 995, much better looking than it was.
Best money ever spent, $35.00 for the gun, $20.00 for the magazine and the stock for trade.
And it does not jam unlike a co-workers AR-9mm,hah.

Still cheaper than .223 or any other rifle caliber, even if it is more than 9mm. I reload so the cost benefit between 9mm and 45acp is minimal. Is there some practical purpose for a .45 ACP carbine? Not really, I don't find any pistol caliber carbine to have a practical purpose other than shooting enjoyment. Its a way to shoot a rifle at an indoor range, too. Honestly, they are just a blast to shoot. Not every gun I own has to have a practical use.

:uhoh: They're making a mistake! That thing should accept Glock magazines. It could make a difference between selling only a couple of thousand units, or selling many thousands of units. :)

Only issue I have seen with Hi-Points happens to be the magazines.
Cheap glock mags wouldn't hurt rifle/carbine sales - but I'd bet every manufacture LOVES the longterm magazine market:cuss:
As a general rule ( for me ) a gun can only be considered good looking if it has:
A: Wood , with a high polish. Laminated will work, but glossy is a must.
B: Bluing, not as in an H&R Handi rifle, some actual metal polishing BEFORE the metal gets "changed" colors..
My:cool: requirements, other users requirements may vary.
that stated, most all newer firearms mfg. in this country go thru a little makeover before hitting the shelves.
As far as pistol caliber carbines - I love every one of them.
But I sure wish a 7.62x25mm;) would show up in the mix. I'd love to get a chamber adapter to convert a Mini-30.

I have a HP 4095 .40 carbine, and it's enormous fun to shoot! Very accurate, never gives a problem, and it's very ugly! My 11y.o. grandson loves it so much I'm going to get him his own 995 9mm carbine. I'm not holding my breath on the arrival of the 4595's though.
When I bought my .40 a couple months ago, the store had to ship them in from another store, because the distributor couldn't get any new carbines. I guess HP is having a difficulty with a part vendor, and that's got their production line at a standstill. No resolution in sight, so they told me. I'm going to get the 995 asap, I'm not waiting until Christmas and counting on one being available.

I have the 9mm carbine, accurate, fun... With the ati stock kicks a lot more than you would think. But still, ugly... I would love to have interchangable magazines with a pistol I would actually carry... Sorry guys, not bashing, just don't like the looks of their handguns.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. That's why there are blondes, brunettes and redheads.... to each his own. But how well it serves the needs are up to each person's own standards -- Some prefer high maintenance, others prefer low maintenance, and the zillions in-between are satisfied to enjoy life with whatever they've chosen with the least amount of effort required to be happy.
Guns aren't all that different than women. Or men, if you're a member of the other gender.
To each his own with whatever best suits the wallet, preferences and performance requirements. Guns, too. :)

These gun snobs hitting on HiPoints need to quit acting so high and mighty. I might agree if HiPoints didn't work, but they do. If you have $800 to invest in a AR 9mm or $600 for a Storm, then do it. But calling a gun crap because it's cheap and ugly doesn't mean it is crap, they're working guns with a great warranty to back them up. I don't own one, but I'd like to some day.
Reminds me of the AR community and Colt > Everyone. Give it a rest, I built a FrankenAR and I'm happy as can be for my intended use, I don't need a $1k gun to do what my $600 one can.
Stepping off my soap box... I can't wait until an affordable .45 carbine hits the market, but HiPoint has been saying it's coming for a looooooooong time. Don't hold your breath.

$600 for a Storm,
personally I think the storm is about as ugly as it gets. HP carbines are odd looking, but not especially ugly IMO.

sorry, when i get a "little black gun" it will be a 223/5.56 while the 45 is a great handgun round, i want a little more range out of a rifle than a 45acp will offer.

I'm excited about it but will wait for one to hit the used market before picking one up. I have a 995 and it is the one gun I own besides my revolvers that has never had a failure of any kind no matter what ammo I feed it. It is scary accurate, if I do my part it will clover leaf at 50 yards.
Who cares if it is ugly? The only complaint is it is a bit of a process to take it apart for a detail cleaning, but that is not a every range trip thing. Oh, and the plastic base on the magazines is a bit fragile.

HP has one of the best warranties of any company i've ever seen. if they made crappy guns, they couldnt have their unconditional lifetime warranty cause they would go out of buisness. sure they are ugly, but i'd rather have 5 ugly ( and granite-tough) guns with lifetime warranties than one pretty gun with a few year warranty.

Damn it everyone!! Let's discuss the Hi Point Rifle, not whether its okay to eat burgers to steak!:D:D
Too many good threads go away because people get defensive just for the heck of it. Plus, since the internet is private, no one knows one another, so no one backs down.
I think the Hi point rifle is neat. Fired several, very mag dependant (good mag, well functioning; bad mag, poor functioning). .45 doesnt add much velo (with the exception of the lighter stuff, even then, not much) but it would be a nice accuracy situation. The pic was nice, but I want one that isnt gussied up with chrome...
