Has eny one seen or even better used one of these. Bushmaster 24in National Match Target Model. Here is what the website says. I am looking at the gun at Florida gunworks. Would this be a good target upper at a good price? After S&H it's $574.

"Extra barrel length for those long shots - makes a great competition rifle or varmint hunter. Bushmaster Complete Upper Receiver Assemblies offer all the quality and features of current mil. spec. production. The Bushmaster manufactured, heavy, 1 in 9 rifled, Chrome-Moly Vanadium steel barrels feature hard chrome lining in both bore and chamber; latest M16 A2 sight systems; integral brass deflectors; and mil. spec. hard anodize finish (no paint!). These units come complete with charging handle, bolt and bolt carrier assemblies, handguards and barrel assemblies. They are factory headspaced and test fired - ready to mount on your lower receiver and take to the range."

If the barrel is 24", No. CMP rifles are restricted to 20" barrels and the Service Rifle configuration. It is certainly legal for NRA High Power events in the Match Rifle category.

CMP rifle rules are posted at www.odcmp.com. The rule book is downloadable in a PDF format.
NRA rifle rules are posted at the NRA Headquarters website under Programs.

That upper cannot be used in a CMP match. It is too long. Rule 6.2.3 (http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/Rulebook.pdf)

Thanks. So how about the same upper with a 20" barrel. I think the forend is free floated, but looks like the standard forend.

The 20" will be OK. You will not be able to shoot 77 or 80 grain bullets with the 1/9 twist barrel. A 1/8 or faster is better.
