Gun Values

I am thinking about trading a CZ 97b to a dealer for a Springfield xd9 sub-compact.

I am working towards the Springfield because I want a small-dimension 9 millimeter, and I have read good things about this gun. I know many people believe the "baby" Glock would be a better deal- I am not terribly keen on Taurus guns. Are there other small frame 9's I should be considering?

My goal, by the way, is to trade even for my CZ

Thanks!

what do you think the fair market value is of your gun based on it's condition? That might help us all give you some ideas for a suitable swap.

At the risk of having paid too much, I bought the gun for $529.00, and have fired 50 rounds through it, broken it down, cleaned and re-assembled it. I would like to have my investment back. I know that won't happen with a dealer, but it would be nice to get close; maybe $475.00?

The XD is a great handgun. Have you looked at the S&W M&P line? The M&P feels great in your hand with the changeable backstrap.

Unfortunately, dealers aren't in business to provide "fair market value" to the masses when taking a gun in for cash or trade.

They need to make a profit to keep the lights on and the doors open and will compensate you for your gun accordingly. I'd expect a maximum of 70% of BOGV pricing with the grading working in the dealers favour.

If possible, sell your CZ yourself and funnel the proceeds into your Springer.

Absolute0 is right....no dealer will give you what you are looking for...try selling it here (free of chrage, too) before you have to go that route

XD is an excellent way to go, by the way...

From a dealer, you're going to be lucky if he offers you $350, and $300 is probably more like it. Trading in a gun is just like trading in a car, you're going to give up a lot of value for the convenience of doing it all in one place.

Unspoken here is the idea that once you trade in the CZ, you'll regret it. You'll always regret getting rid of a gun, in facat. It may not be right away, mind you -- but somewhere down the road, you'll kick yourself for getting rid of a nice pistol.

try trading it on the forums. or selling it on gunbroker. most of the GB's are not selling when listed at over 550.

Oh man, ain't that the truth. I know that to be so true from all too much experience :banghead:
