I recently bought a used 9mm CZ75 Compact from a friend here in the Philippines. It was very cheap(less than a $100) but it had a broken recoil spring. Being in the Philippines, there is only one CZ dealer in all of its 7,000 plus islands and they do not have the replacement recoil spring for the CZ75 compact at all(out of stock and they do not have a clue on when they are getting any). All of the gun stores here have parts for the .45 1911 type pistols though. Because of the scarcity of CZ replacement parts, thinking outside of the box, are there any .45 1911 type recoil springs that might fit and work properly on the CZ75 Compact? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Be safe and happy shooting.

In the PI, you might try Armscor (http://www.armscor.com). They are marketing/assembling Tanfoglio clones and may have something that would work in your compact.

Thank you for the post, I tried the .45 recoil springs but they are much bigger in diameter than the broken one in the gun. After much searching in traffic infested Manila, I finally found a tanfoglio recoil spring but it is for the regular size not the compact. I was planning on cutting the spring to make it fit but do not know the correct length since the spring is compressed in my gun. Does anybody have a new unused CZ75 Compact recoil spring that they can measure so that I can cut the spring to the correct length. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try contacting Wolff gunsprings.

They make quality springs for almost every handgun I can think of.

They will probably be able to offer a spring (not sure about shipping) or at least information.

I finally got the gun fixed(I hope) by using a beretta 9mm spring rated for 14 pounds. I had to cut around 6 coils to make the spring fit properly when compressed. I am not sure about how to recalculate the pounds rating of the adjusted recoil spring. I was kind of thinking of dividing the pound rating for the uncut spring divided by the number of coils then multiply that by the number of coils cut then subtracting it from the original pound rating to get the adjusted pound rating for the newly cut spring. The spring originally had 22 coils, i cut 6 coils so with my calculation, I have about 10 pounds on the newly cut spring. Can anybody tell me if I am on the right track? I have not test fired the gun yet,still waiting for the weekend when I can go to the boondocks and blast away.

I forgot to mention that I did not use the tanfoglio spring because no one from Armscor(where it came from) could tell me what the spring rating in pounds was for the particular spring I bought. I phoned the Armscor office in Makati and Marikina, the persons on the other end did not know, and no they could not be bothered to find out. Just typical Armscor world class service.
