First IDPA Match

So, I just competed in my first IDPA match. In fact, it was my first time shooting competitively period. I had a great time, met a bunch of great and helpful people and am looking forward to next time.

I shot unclassified in SSR, using a stock 3" K-frame S&W 65 with fixed sights, factory Winchester ammo, kydex holster and compII speedloaders.

I tried to make a conscious effort to listen closely, and to watch others closely, and to slow down and not shoot faster than I can see. I could tell I was pretty timid getting my first shot off, though, and that's something I'll need to particularly focus on.

The final results aren't posted yet, but I saw from the preliminary results posted that night that while I did lose some time to points down, I didn't lose any to procedural penalties. Overall, it's tough to say how I did until the results are posted, though I'm mainly interested in my own improvement. By way of comparison, though, one stage was a standard El Prez, which I did in 10.27, with no points down.

That is a darned good time with a revolver, not bad with anything.
