Loose Cylinder Latch?

I just noticed that the cylinder latch on my 642 wiggles up and down a bit. There is also a pretty good-sized gap between the latch and the frame.

I tightened it down, it still wiggles. I took it off, and the black threaded part that it attaches to wiggles quite a bit itself.

Is this a problem as long as the latch stays attached nice and tight?

There should be some wiggle to insure that the parts can move even if the inside is filled with crud, pocket lint, or whatever. This looseness does not effect the way the cylinder locks up, but be sure the thumbpiece screw/cap doesn't come loose.

It is supposed to have some wiggle room for the reason stated above.

I strongly suggest you clean the threads of all oil, and apply one small drop of
BLUE LockTight, then tighten it.

If you don't, sooner or later it will vibrate off from shooting, and get lost in the weeds! :what:
