Dont be too hard on me.I am an avid shooter i am a very good shot with a rifle a better shot with a pistol and have been hunting with a sotgun since i could stand.
There is a state run range i go to at least once a week and one of the ranges guys saw me shooting off hand with my custom Ak and saw me shoot in some fun matchs they have there for pistols and asked if id shoot with his team when they do three gun.Now he is DEA and a hella nice guy and this would mostly be LEO's.
Just want know what is involved-not the nervous type here love to compete in other areas dont think nerves would be an issue but some idea of what it is would great as i already told the guy yes-hell anytime i get to shoot im a happy guy.
thanks for any input.
Bob

Think of a 3-Gun match as a typical Hogans Alley (IPSC) Stage that sometimes uses rifles or shotguns instead of just pistols. Sometimes you can use all 3 guns in one stage.

ok you shoot over-around things that are set up.
okay just did the Google thing-this looks like a great way to spend an afternoon.
any three gun guys out here got any tip on tactical (hate that word sounds sooo mall ninja) vest-drop leg holsters, etc.guns and/or gear that works better
than most.
i have a Glock G30 .45
Custom AK74 in 5.45 with Aimpointe
Mossberg bullpup 9 shot pump
have other guns but these three look as they would work best.
once again any thoughts or input would be great.........

i'm not familiar with that bullpup shotgun, but it looks like you've got the 3 guns covered.
my advice on remaining gear is simple is better than complex and light is better than heavy.
assuming you are not mil/leo, and hence do not have a burning need to practice with the body armor, duty rigs, radios, camelbak, carry guns, etc... you really just need a quality holster and some way to carry a couple rifle mags and a couple pistol mags and whatever shotgun stuff you have.
A point of interest that came out of a recent discussion with very knowledgeable mil/leo folks was that they prefer all that gear higher up on their torso where I and a lot of other game-oriented folks prefer it lower on belt.
makes a lot of sense if you think about relative requirements. running 20 miles vs covering 20-30' in 15-45 seconds, and needing to efficiently carry 10 rifle mags vs wanting to shave a half-second of your access to 1 mag, and wearing gear all day vs donning and doffing equipment 5 times/day for 5 minutes at a time

Here are some You Tube videos. 3 gun or Multigun is about as much fun as you can have. Typically in a 3 gun match you use one gun at a time. In multi gun you may use all 3 on a stage.
Here's a good video, that covers regular USPSA pistol, and the second half is 3 gun. Very good, very cool, and very informative.

On the first video on youtube there, Colorado 3 gun. Check out how that guy does that starts at 1:13. Freaking fast.

For shotgun, get some dummies and practice reloading, since those stages usually come down to how fast you can reload on the move.

Have a Question-um- What is a 3 gun match
It's not anywhere near as fun as 3rd base, but it will get your heart pumping about as fast.
