Tikka T3

Just got one in 25-06, stainless and laminated.
Beautiful rifle. very nice.
A few things have caught my eye, the detachable magazine is a mfg money trap and the scope rings are pretty nice. decent trade off.
Anybody know of a hinged (remmy - win - every other mfg) bottom metal to get to replace the magazine?
The set trigger is a very wonderful thing - except my trigger just broke at 5.5 - 5.7 oz 8 times in a row. The exact trigger group appears to be on a BERETTA (sako) rifle I got some time ago, made in ITALY:neener:
Followed instructions - yeah, I read instructions - to the letter. A half pound trigger is scary - this one is terrorizing. I like it.

I have a T3 in .243 with a Zeiss 3 x 9 on top, wonderful whitetail gun. Also a Tikka Whitetail hunter 22/250 now that I think about it I do not know why I bought the 22/250 because I have a Savage 12BVSS I like better. Win some lose some...... Back to your question, the plastic mag is cheap looking and feeling and to date I do not know of anyone making a metal replacement. I would like to follow your thread in case a good answer comes around.

I love my T3 but just can't get my head around the rinky dink plastic magazine set up. If there were an aftermarket hinged trigger guard available for it I would be in heave

The problem is the detachable mag is a way over priced piece of plastic.

I agree, it feels pretty cheesy, but considering the type of gun and it's intended applications
( non military) what are the chances of loosing or damaging it? I'm not too worried.

The mag is fiberglass so it's stronger than it looks, but I would sorely like to find a metal mag, or a re-work hinge plate arrangement for it.
50-65 bucks for a replacement mag is obscene.
Other than that I love the T3. I just a shot 4 inch group of 15 rounds at 100 yards today after sighting in a new scope. One shot went wide right (1 inch wide), but that was the one I fired while still working on my breath control -- it surprised me went it went off.
I'm sure the T3 could do better, but I guess 4 inch groups is my limit, not the rifle's.

I had the same reservations about the Tikka as some of you. But it is overall one of the finest hunting rifles that I have seen. I have one in 270 WSM, and I guarentee that you can shoot a raggity hole at 200 yards.

How many of you have or shot a Glock? Tikka is one of the finest rifle's made. Don't give the plastic mag a second thought, it makes the gun lighter.

The magazines are very high quality, but are not metal (meaning they will not dent and quit), are overpriced, and can't be loaded while in the rifle.
The reason your trigger looks like a Sako is that Tikka is made by Sako.
My Tikkas easily go under 1 M.O.A.

I just shot my 223 Tikka T3 lite yesterday. I think it's a great gun with the smoothest bolt action in the business, sweet trigger too. I'd like to buy another one in 308.

I'm such a believer, I'm replacing my rifles with T'3s. Next up, .223:)
