I took a chance and ordered a new pistol sight unseen. It's an FN highpower compact. Smaller and lighter than the standard HP its a 9mm. The interesting thing about this pistol, it is traditional double action. My Mark lll is single action only. I took it to the range today to try it out. Unfortunately, the area of the range where I shoot was closed so I had to go to another area. I couldn't really fire for accuracy so I FFF(fired for function).
I put a hundred rounds downrange. 50 Rounds of Wolf metal case and 50 of American Eagle. Both rounds were 115 gr. ball. No failures of any kind.
The gun has a little more recoil than the heavier P35 but not much. The trigger is light but long and creepy. I'm going to see a 'smith about that.
The gun replaced my "Scared & Wimpy" 6906. The S&W was a good gun but never really fit my hand well. I also like the option of thumb cocking so the new pistol fit that criteria also. Next week I'll get to range for some accuracy testing. :)
