No, it's not what you think. While perusing thru the doubles at my favorite gunshop I came across a make I had never seen before. 12 gauge, better than average walnut, double triggers, 28" barrels (tag said they were F/M, but my calipers showed .681 and .692, that's tight fellas). Excellent condition for $395. On the right barrel was stamped in big letters, P.O.S. on the left "Pride of Spain". Well it ain't in my BlueBook, but just from looking at it I think they're pricing it a tad high, it isn't like the nice Spanish doubles I see from time to time. But it does have the slimlines of Spanish double. But when someone asked you what it was you'd have to say, "A POS":D

Ah come on, you knew it was coming.:neener:

Mid level Basque gun, I've seen a few and they're OK. I believe Preacherman's 10 was a POS.

LIke all but the top Spanish guns, parts may be hard to get.

This one looked Okay, but when you shouldered it you could tell the attention to detail wasn't quite there. Hard to put my finger on what it was, just didn't feel solid. I've had a jones for a nice spanish double since I ran into a really sexy 20ga a long while back. Hadn't thought about getting parts for one, I'm betting that ain't easy.

Unless the yen is strong, John, I'd pass. Feel is subjective, but important.

Yep, parts are a problem. I have an old Sarasqueta I wish I could buy a new fore stock for, but unless I have it custom made, it ain't gonna happen. I ain't spending that kind of money on an old gun. I keep it for old time's sake. It was a very pretty gun when I bought it and nothing important has ever broken on it. I really have little actual USE for it anymore. It had a hard life in the duck marshes in a previous life, but still shoots well.

Yeah, if I ever see a 20 for a decent price I'll snatch it up. Right now my monthly gun allowance is kinda short since I'm trying to buy my way into a house with some land (and you thought lead shot was getting expensive :what:) and I still have that 870 I'm paying off. I did see alot of SXS's yesterday, but it seems that everything around here is marked $399 and up regardless of actual value.

That reminds me, I should go pick up that 870 today.....:D
