I'm looking for their published .30-30 load for their 150 gr JFN with W748.

I believe it's ~ 33.5 gr., but want to confirm.

Do they publish an accuracy load?

Starting is 33.0 gr, max is 37.0 according to Speer 14. It doesn't show a "most accurate" load. Speer suggests using a magnum primer with 748, that's a personal choice.

Thanks for looking that one up for me....

max is 37.0

Wow! :what:

Hodgdon lists 34.5 gr. as max.!

Does Speer typically list hotter loads?

Lyman #48 list 36.5 grs. as MAX load using 150 gr.bullets and W748 in the 30-30. Along with WLR & CCI 200 primers.

Lyman #49 also lists 36.5 with 150 as Max. with WW 748 in 30-30.

SSN Vet-

You were thinking of the max for H335. That load does happen to be EXTRTEMELY accurate. At least in my 30-30's.

"Hodgdon lists 34.5 gr. as max.!"

I suspect Hodgdon and Speer used differenty rifles to develop their suggested loads. That's all it would take to get different data and it's why we can't safely simply open a book and go directly to the max listed load.

The load data from the Speer manual is tested on a pressure/velocity universal receiver. Charge weight and pressure vary from lot to lot. One example was I had to add 2 grains of powder to hit pressure and velocity on 270 short mag once. I've noticed that many of these manuals have varying data. for H335 in .223, the lyman manual shows 3 grains higher than the hornady book for max charge. The lyman starting charge is actually higher than the hornady max.
