This is a e-mail sent to my mom from my brother who is at a airbase in iraq.

Well I finally got your e-mail. Things here are hot as fire, both in
the temperature and in the action. We get mortor attacks almost nightly
and last night they tried to break through the wire, but there were
only two of them against a whole company of infantry so it did not work
out for them at all. I have inclosed some pictures of this place. The
one title burning poop is exactly what it is, if you look to left you
will see some wooden buildings, this is where we go to the bathroom at.
When the cans are full we drag them out and burn them to ashes. The
one titled house mates is a picutre with me in it of all the pople that I
share a tent with. Living Area is of the little space that I get to
call home. And the one titled the house is the front of our tent. Well
I am going to close for now and go to sleep. I will write more later.
Lots of love

Dan

when I find out how to put in picts I will do that.

Just thought that some of us here would like hear about the goings-on of an army-man in the field.

later

when I find out how to put in picts I will do that. If the pictures are an attachment to your e-mail, copy them to your hardrive and remember where they are: for example, in the "My Pictures" folder if you are running Windows.

Click the reply button on this thread, and click the "Browse..." button where it says "Attach file:" browse through to the picture file(s) you want, and click "Open" you should see something along the lines of "C:\Documents and Settings\Hillbilly\My Documents\My Pictures\0065.jpg" with \0065.jpg being substituted with the name of your picture file. Add any text you want, click "Submit Reply", and it should look a little like this:

Then you can right-click on the attachment, and select "Properties", and highlight and copy the address of the picture on the THR web-server. It will look something like this: http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=477281

When you have done that, you can click the "Edit" button, and then click the "IMG" button, and paste the address of the picture in the dialog box, and click "OK". Then click "Save Changes". The result should look like this: http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=477281

Ahh, they remind me of good 'ole Kandahar, Assghanistan. Especially the poop burning. Gotta love the three hole outhouses. You don't know what loss of privacy is until you're taking care of the paperwork a foot away from someone else doing the same thing, while you're looking out at the guys standing in line. It gives you a new appreciation for the wonderful invention we call stalls. Then there's the 'piss tubes'. Eight or ten guys standing in a circle, 'hanging out' shall we say.

That dont look like the Hilton to me.

Us Air Force folks wouldnt stand for that type of living quarters.:what:

all kidding aside, I know the feeling of living like that. Had living quarters like that the 1st and 2nd trip to Kuwait.

Hope your brother gets home soon. Let him know were all praying for their safe return.

Heck, I might be visiting him in November.:D
