IWB Holster for a 642?

Any recommendations for a good IWB holster for a S&W 642, preferably synthetic material with some kind of retention strap? Is the one offered by Uncle Mike's any good?

Mika makes a fine holster. Just expect to wait a long time before it ships.

Is there a particular reason you prefer synthetic? Leather usually makes a much better holster.

It's not synthetic, and there's no strap, but the Bianchi Covert Option is the best I've found. It's extremely comfortable, the gun doesn't shift around, the draw is easy, and one-handed reholstering is simple.

I've been looking at the Comp-Tac Two O'Clock holster - any thoughts on this?

I just bought a 642 and have ordered Mika round and square-cut pocket holsters. However, I also want a Kydex IWB. All the usual makers make them for the 642 (Blade-Tec, Comp-Tac, FIST, etc, etc), although I don't think that most have retention straps standard.

I think I've decided on the Comp-Tac Two O'Clock that D-Man mentioned - it's tuckable (although I probably wouldn't tuck it, it's nice to have the option), and it's actually designed to be carried appendix-style instead of the usual behind-the-hip position, which is where I think a snubby belongs.

FullEffect1911 asked why synthetic? I prefer leather for field holsters because they look nicer, but I think Kydex is more practical because it's waterproof and it can be made thinner than leather. Kydex is ugly, but if it's IWB, you can't see it, and IWB holsters need to be as thin as possible. Plus, there's not much point on putting an ugly gun like the 642 in a nice-looking holster.

I don't think you'll find many offerings for what you're looking for. There are some leather holsters with retention strap made for a 642. Have to ask, why the retention? It it's required for work I can understand but for civilian carry I'd recommend against it an I really not recommend synthetic. Having used a bunch of those, including Uncle Mike, I believe they're too slippery and the gun slips out way too easily. Don't ask me how I know :o

One of my all time favorite IWB's for the 642 is the AJ Concealco IWB. It's adjustable cant allows for 1 hand reholstering; has good retention and yet a very smooth draw and it's VERY thin across the cylinder so it helps that J frame totally disapear. It's also very reasonably priced and lead time is usually 20 days or less. check it out:

God Bless

I agree Mika makes a good IWB Holsters (http://www.frontiernet.net/~akim/waist.htm) with and without the thumb strap. He also makes outstanding pocket holsters too. They look like leather but they're not and the price is right.

If you decide leather isn't so bad and are looking for something that's not too expensive yet will still work well give Don Hume's Waistband Clip-on Thumb Break (http://www.donhume.com/Products/ProductsPage.cfm?ProductID=36) holster a look.
