Be safe? I've a'ready suffered my 1st injury. Went to the range today to zero 2 new rifles/scopes for my grandson and son'n'law. A 7mm mag and a 308. Left me with a pretty sore shoulder. Had to dial in new copper (no-lead) ammo required for our hunting areas. Zero'd both guns for 200 yds.

Absolutely my favorite time of year,& probably a lot of others(here) as well.
Safety,as always. # 1, enjoyment / meat in the freezer is why we do it.
Enjoy !!

Thank you paintballdude902. Hope you have good luck and are safe also in your quest. I sure hope these gas price's go down for our hunting trips to be possible. Here gas is $3.89 gal. and if it goes up much more it'll be real hard to run a trap line of any length, or go out coon hunting every nite. Well, anyway my same to everyone also, be safe and good luck.

It's here! Cleaned and quartered a 90lb button buck last night, will be packaging it all today. Hopefully that'll last me a few weeks, until I can get to the Blueridge!

Wishing y'all a great season. Good luck and may the Hunting Gods smile upon you. :)
I spent yesterday morning in my tree stand, opening day for bow deer season. Was in it about an hour before dawn, watched the sky slowly begin to lighten in the East, then was awed with a magnificent sunrise as that big ball of fire edged slowly over the horizon. The woods came alive... squirrels jumping from tree to tree, the sound of hickory nuts being cut bouncing off the leaves on their way to the ground, blue jays barking their incessant warning that a squirrel invader is in their favorite tree.
No whitetail showed up for the party, but it was still a perfect way to spend the beautiful Fall morning. It reminded me why I love life and why we're here. It's not for the never-ending chase of making a living, keeping up with the Jones', or of doing what everyone else says I should be doing during my short visit on Earth... but to merely revel in the wonders God has placed on the planet for our sheer enjoyment. Bonding with a 200 year old monster White Oak, leaning up against it at the crack of dawn, feeling the energy of the woods as it wakes, (trusting fate that I wouldn't fall out of the stand without a harness), and appreciating the fact that life is good is what it's all about.
Wishing you all the best of nature and in your hunting quests this Fall. Stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy.

Yes good hunting and safety to all. Shunzu, shame on you for not wearing your safety vest. To all take the time to read the words of Shunzu, that is what it is all about. Life is merely over in a blink of an eye. Make sure to tell your loved ones that you love them each time you part, it could be your last. And most importantly, do you know where you are going when you die? If there are any doubts that is heaven, pm me and I will help you find your way. God bless you all, Mac
If you haven't seen the new movie FIREPROOF take my advice it will be the best money you can spend this month!!

Well said...and you've been scolded already about the harness...
To that I would add the one day each season I hope never to miss - walking to the stand in the dark, with stars shining (greeting Orion the Hunter overhead) and the air crisp with the first hard killing frost of the season. As it becomes light, it seems each and every gloriously colored leaf decides the season is over and they begin raining down...you know its quiet when you can hear each one hit the ground! Chilly toes and fingers impatiently await the warmth of the sun, which seems to tease forever before it finally appears, and your last 3 breaths are still visible drifting away in the cold air. Hard to imagine that paradise could be any better...

Yep, good luck all. And good advice to above all, be safe. Watch the muzzle, don't use a tree stand without a harness. Have a radio and/or cell phone and/or buddy-hunt at all times, stay hydrated, watch those canyons and loose rock, and fergoodnessake, stay dry, dress warmly and always take your compass!
Going bowhunting for whitetail next Thurs for 3 days - can't wait. Those of you who've already gotten one deer this year - that's one more than I got all of last year. My luck has GOT to be better this year. Four deer two years ago, none last year - doh!
