Some interesting local news for me.

Strange though, it seems like it's been a long time since I've seen any headlines involving guns, then yesterday 3 pop up out of nowhere; this one, the one in Finland and the other in OK, hrm.

Gun found on KISD campus
By LESTER MURRAY news2@kilgorenewsherald.com

With a tip from a concerned student, Kilgore High School officials and Kilgore Independent School District Resource Officers acted quickly of a report of a gun on campus Friday morning.

Bobby Wheeley, assistant superintendent for KISD said the tip led to the discovery of a loaded 22 caliber handgun hidden in the ceiling of one of the school's restrooms.

Wheeley said during further investigation several students confirmed the student in question, a male sophomore at KHS, had the gun and was trying to sell it at school. "We even confirmed a text message from the student who brought the gun to another student trying to sell it," said Wheeley.

Wheeley said the other student was not involved and did not have any intentions of buying the handgun.

Wheeley said the student who brought the gun was suspended and then arrested by KISD Resource Officers.

Wheeley said the KISD school board will determine possible action and set a hearing for possible expulsion at their regular meeting scheduled for Monday, September 22, at 7 p.m.
