Heres the thing, my girlfriend wants to get me a shotgun for my birthday, and i have a rough limit of 350. So, here i am owning several rifles [all of which i only plink with, no hunter or competitor here] but no shotgun. So i say to my self

"Hey self, i want a shotgun to shot some clays with, and it might as well be nifty"

So, first im browsing under and overs, as that is actually the only kind of shotgun ive ever fired, and i did indeed like it. But, as i browse the racks i decide that while cool, ive still seen them a bunch, and they arent "nifty" enough. So then i get the idea, i was a sxs.

And so, my question is, am i wasting money or will this bad boy be a good buy-

There is also the stoeger double trigger model at dicks for the same price, however the one they had on hand had double triggers and im not sure its really my thing. But would either the stoeger or the rebranded bakail be worth my hard earned cash?

I am also open to ANY suggestions regarding shotguns in that price range. And yes, yes i have thought of an 870 since it would also be better for HD [i was actually looking at the 20g youth model since it handles VERY easily] but i am not sure i want a pump becuase it just doesnt have that 'old world' appeal to me. However, i still have it as an option.

Thanks for your time,

Brian

Whether or not you like your new shotgun, that is, if it will do what you want it to do, depends on one thing - if it fits you. To be successful with it, you must be able to throw it to your shoulder, with both eyes open and on the target, and have the gun simultaneously pointing at the target. It all depends on your build and the particular stock dimensions of the gun....there is no way to tell w/o handling the gun - that alone will make the decision for you. I once saved and scratched because I HAD to have a Silver Pigeon (based solely on how cool they looked in a magazine). When I finally handled one, it became apparent I would have been shooting about 3' over the top of everything without purposeful aiming (which is NOT good shotgun technique)...not the gun's fault, just the way it fit me...

The Spartans are solid guns and great deals. Fit is important, but you're not going to get a custom fit double for 350 bucks, even 3500 bucks, maybe 35000. With the double guns, just add zeros to the price to get what you want. Repeaters, because of the way the butt stock is fitted, can be adjusted for drop and camber with shims, which is a good thing. I have a Spartan SxS and love it. But, do try it to your shoulder before purchase in the store. YMMV It should come to the eye, the eye should have to come to it.
