Need help on a Paterson

A friend gave me his Paterson to work on. What a PITA! I have a question on re-assembly: in what oder do the top plate and the back breach go on? It would seem that the top plate should go on first, with the hand fitted into the back breach as it is placed on the frame and screwed on. The only thing is, I dont want to screw up the ratchet mechanism inside the back breach. Anybody have any experience with this? BTW, I now know why Colt went bankrupt with this contraption. :banghead:

Ordered a part it needed, and thats what enabled me to get the darn thing back together to the point I have it (although they show the trigger/sear assembly going in a reversed direction). Looking for a little guidance on the last assembly process.

Here's what I ran into - the Pietta and Uberti schematics are different.
I ended up using an original Paterson patent for guidance.
Is this the point that you're at? If so, the cylinder pin/recoil shield/back breech does go on last and is secured by two screws underneath (the plate is already in place)
