This issue isn't about the Bill of Rights; it's about public safety. Of course. The Bill of Rights is important, until I decide it's not.

An armed society is a polite society.

Apparently this fellow doesn't want to be polite at meetings

1)If I remember right, Pahrump is a fairly old area of Nevada, isn't it?
2)There has been public meetings since it was established, correct?
3)Pistols, have been LEGAL at the meetings since the meetings started, correct?
4)Do you know of ANYONE ever being shot or threatened at one of the meetings?
If the answers to questions 1, 2, and 3 are Yes, and the answer to question 4 is NO, then what are you planning to do, to make them so mad that they would shoot you???
Relax and enjoy your meetings. If you can't relax, go buy yourself a pistol, practice with it, and carry it to the meetings so you can protect yourself and others if someone ever goes off the deep end.

Look at it this way: How would you feel if you went to the podium during public comment and you were confronted by five town board members with guns on their hips?

Well, as long as nobody is tell me that I can't do the same, that's an easy question to answer:

FREE.

In the spirit of compromise, ...Okay, we know what you want us to give up. What are you going to give up in return? You did use the term "compromise" didn't you, Mr. Brean?

This issue isn't about the Bill of Rights

It never is with these people.

The writer got it right in the first sentence of his third paragraph. He just didn't know it, or he probably would have edited the sentence out when he proofed the article.
:banghead:

And I'm sure he "owns" a gun - probably shoots trap or skeet at least once a year with it, if he has time between writing his whinning screeds.
