If you've seen this movie, does anyone have any idea what kind of handgun Mr. Pink is firing when he's stealing the Tan Chevrolet Nova? It's about 20 minutes into the movie.

Rather, what the handgun is supposed to be. It looks like a big ol' .45, but he shoots it about twenty times, and it clearly doesn't have an extended magazine.

Just curious.

It's a S&W 5906.

Also note that the shot is in two cuts, and they cronologically "overlap." He fires approximately 12 rounds between pulling the woman from the car and driving away.

Yeah, I think the slide locks back in the first shot.
Thank you very much.

also, you get a real good look at his 5906 when he is reloading while talking to Mr. White in the bathroom of the hideout.

It's an adjustable sight model, with the distinctive protective wings on the rear sight.

Was Mr. Pink played by Steve Buscemi?

Great movie.

Yes, it was Steve Buscemi. Just saw it for the first time last weekend. I think he does a great job.

Of course, being Hollywood, the director had a lot of first round kills in the shooting, but the plot device of a wounded undercover cop surviving for hours plays out pretty well. Take all that with a grain of salt.

At the end, when Mr. Pink leaves with the swag, do you hear a shootout suggesting his demise? My son insists it's on the soundtrack, I haven't reviewed that again.

I bought those cordless stereo headphones for a reason, and my wife thinks it's impolite to use them. Gives me a reason to see it again.

There are gunshots, and foul language from the cops and Mr. Pink, but NOTHING to suggest that he is killed...

He may have escaped with the diamonds.

On another (THR related) note:

Is it legal for the woman who shot Mr. Orange in the guts to have a loaded revolver in her glove box in Los Angeles?...

No. It was not legal for her to have a loaded handgun in the glove box of her car.

Exactly. I have a 5906. It was also the gun used in the first of "The Shield" series by Vick Mackey.

Vic mackey uses the 4506.

Did he start with a 9mm 5906?

Vic Mackey's S&W was always a Model 4506.
