Can't seem to find any information on which Loadmaster Shellplate to use with 25 auto. Anyone loading this round on a Loadmaster?

Maybe they don't make it, Griz. I don't find it in my paper catalog, and it's not online. Not for the 5-hole Loadmaster nor the 3-hole P1000.

For single-station press the shellholder size for 25auto is #15. So I guess they expect you to load them little suckers one-by-one.

That would not be very nice of them. They sell dies. Almost everyone sells bullets for it. I just dropped a e-mail to Lee, I'll let everyone know what I hear back. I stopped and picked up a couple of boxes from Wally World. 25 ACP is MORE expensive than 45 ACP. That makes no sense at all to me.

Reloading .25 ACP ain't as much fun as you might think it is!

I wouldn't even trust a progressive press powder measure to reliably throw those 1.2 grain powder charges.

Might could be why they don't offer a shell plate for it!

I agree, with the small loads in a 25acp and the size of most of em, I''d be afraid of over pressure if my press 'burped' .

I have done some toying around with several different powders and the Lee Microdisk that is made for the Pro Auto Disk. It will throw 1.3g of bullseye very consistently. It throws 1.6g of Titegroup like a fine jeweler polishes diamonds. No problem with the powder dump. Just the shell plate.... And I love a good challenge, especially one that saves 79% of the cost of factory ammo.

Let us know how it works out, Griz. I hardly ever shoot Grandma's 1908 Hammerless any more because I just don't want to dump 18 bucks for 50 tiny little rounds. It's just as well, I shouldn't be shooting a hundred year old pistol much.

P.S. Maybe you can't overpressure a 25acp with common powders? Load tables show 17,000 to 18,000 psi with a compressed charge. Eventually you've filled the case to the rim and just can't hardly seat a bullet, but still don't exceed 20,000.

P.P.S. Maybe you don't even need a powder measure. Just use the primed brass as a powder scoop, then seat your bullet. Maybe you don't even need to buy bullets. Just use a small fishing sinker.

Interesting thread. I'm finding a hidden factor in reloading since getting my progressive, it's fun in it's own right! Fun becomes boredom after enough time until you toss in a challenge. Loading the .25 ACP sounds like a challenge. I don't see a shell plate for it for an RCBS Pro 2000 press though. I do have an RCBS Jr. press though, and might want to dribble the charges into the scale anyway.

I reloaded for .25ACP years & years ago (though not on a progressive) & it was a lot of fun. Jeez, I was even casting bullets for it!
As far as the cost of .25ACP v. .45ACP goes, it's mainly a matter of economics. The ammo factories make many times the qty. of .45ACP than they do .25ACP so the cost per round is much less when you take into account set-up time. They probably keep a line set up full time for the .45ACP, but probably only do one or two runs a year for the.25ACP.

I got 5 of them, 2 have already sold, I am keeping one for me.

.32 Auto is the smallest I have reloaded for.

.25 auto cases are TINY, but I don't have a .25 auto, or I might have tried it.

Finally got the shellplate, and now the wife shoots 45.
She'll have to keep the 25 as BUG.

The .25 auto shellplate is also available for PRo1000 as a special order, I saw one once on eBay.

I am going to get into .25acp reloading soon as I get my repaired Pieper firing pin fitted and make sure it works. I've got a big sandwich baggie of brass. These take a regular small pistol primer, right?

Who has .25acp lead bullets?
