I went and got my money back today on the NEF 10 Waterfowler I'd ordered. They couldn't find a supplier with it anywhere in the country. Damned shame, ya advertise a gun on your web site, but no one can get it due to lack of availability.

So, I think I'm back to getting a 3.5" 12. I can afford a 835 ultimag now, but I think I'll hold out for an auto. I can get a camo Remington Spartan (when Academy gets some:rolleyes: for 479. I can get a blued 935 Mossberg for 500 available now. I'll just wait to get one of these I guess. The BPS is nearly 700 in camo, 600 blued. Might could find a used one, don't know, probably not around here. Meanwhile, if I goose hunt, I guess I'll just cripple a few with 3" 12

MC, don't give up on the 10! You've been talking about it too long. Better go ahead and stick that money in the sock drawer, one'll come along before long.

Good advice. I'm tempted to just wait until I have some cash built up (have some now) and hit some big gun shows looking for a BPS 10. Thanks. I'm going to chill until after the property taxes are paid this year, at least. :banghead: I'm a little conservative with my money until I get THAT done. Priorities I guess.

Get a 3" 12 and use the extra money to buy some really good non-steel shells. #1 tungsten matrix or Hevi-Shot doesn't cripple if you can shoot.

If you were closer, I'd let you use my SP-10. You'd hold out for the 10 over the 3 1/2" 12 gauge. Even with tungsten or turkey loads, the auto really knocks down the recoil to a very acceptable level.

Been doing that. Have a Mossberg 500 camo 3". You a rich man? You priced anything tungsten lately? It works, but my gawd, ain't a goose livin' worth 3.60 a shot! Won't take long to buy a BPS at that rate. Besides, I just got this 10 gauge fever goin'. LOL I need something that slings a lot of T shot.

The problem would disappear if they'd let us use lead again.

MCgunner, I'd hold out for the 10 gauge personally. We have 2 Mossberg 835s at the house, and they have both had consistent problems ejecting 3.5" shells. A friend of mine has an SP10, and it weighs and points in a fairly similar fashion to the 835, except as a semi-auto it seems to have lighter recoil.

I had problems with a 3" Remington round ejecting from my M500 for a while. No other brand was quite as long on firing, switched to Federal or Winchester and no problems. But, the problem sounds familiar. LOL

I've located an old Ithaca Mag 10 for 550, but a little steep for my blood and since it's no longer built, I'm a little wary of it. I'm lookin' for maybe a used BPS at the moment. I can handle the recoil. :D And, the BPS is my all time favorite pump gun.

Sounds like a Remington SP-10 is calling your name.

Get the Browning Gold-lite (aluminum receiver).
Keep your eye on auctionarms.com and gunbroker.com.
They will come up.
Not much of a SP-10 fan.

PM sent. Not really into shipping via dealers and such, but if it's somewhere halfway close, we might deal F to F. :D

Well, correction, the 10 gauge is happenin'! Thanks to whom ever it was...oh, wait, got the link on another board, never mind. :D Anyway, guy sent me a link to the H and R turkey model on a site..ableammo.com...that had it for 242. I'd been quoted 265 or something on the turkey model, 228 on the waterfowler. Well, they didn't have the waterfowler in stock, but I like the turkey model better, anyway.

So, no longer having an FFL, I called a friend who I'd bought a gun through before. He's a former game warden and former police chief of our town and will talk your friggin' arm off, but I digress. He gets on his computer, I'm on mine. He finds the gun and says, "how's about 197 plus shipping, can ya handle that?" :what: Well, HELL YEAH! So, anyway, I'm going to the gun club meeting tonight anyway, he's the treasurer for the club, so I'll settle up with him there and my 10 is on the way. WOOHOO! I will need to spend 30 bucks on a choke, but I'd planned to buy the Xtra full choke for the waterfowler in case I wanted to go turkey hunting someday, anyway, no biggy. Choke is 30 bucks off the H&R site.

So, I'll keep all my 12s for duck hunting, keep the Mossberg with 3" capability, all is good.

Side note, Grover (the friend with the FFL) told me his son shot a hog the other day with a .223 in the head. Way he hit it, bullet bounced off, didn't even penetrate the skin, but cold konked the hog, well, for a minute. Says his son whips out his phone and is videoing the hog walkin' up to it when the hog gets up!:what: In a panic, he tosses the phone down and grabs the rifle for another round to the ribs which put the hog down. His son has ordered a H&R slug gun in 12 gauge. ROFL! He got the gun in, says it is built on the 10 gauge barrel, but bored to 12 bore, and Grover says it's the heaviest shotgun he's ever picked up, LOL! Ought to tame the recoil, though. I'd not wanna try a slug in a normal H&R 12. Just thinkin' about it hurts my shoulder.:D

WHy not just get a Benelli Nova? Mine is completely reliablie with any load. I have dunked that thing in a many a swamp and pulled it out and it kept shooting. 3 1/2s whether they are steel, lead, or hevi it delivers. At only 350 new these are hard to beat.

If set on the 10 ga though you must get the 10. If you dont you will always still want one.

So, I got on the H&R web site today and ordered the steel shot choke. Should show up about the time the gun does. I noticed H&R makes a rifled barrel 12 gauge with sights and a scope mount with hammer offset included for 83 bucks. I was tempted to add that just because it was cheap. LOL However, I really have no need for a slug gun. I'd rather shoot one of my rifles at hogs, deer, whatever. So, I talked myself out of it. Also was thinkin', I had a 20 gauge H&R for my daughter once. I had to have a smith work the sear to get the trigger light enough to pull it. Now, I ain't all that picky about shotgun triggers, but if you turn one into a rifle, well, trigger quality is important. If this thing has a nice trigger (not likely), I might think about it in the future, though. To 100 yards, there ain't much a 12 gauge slug can't kill and those sabot slugs have a little more range to 'em out of a rifled barrel.

Kinda neat, though, all the accessories. I mean, it's kinda like a cheap TC Encore. Most of the stuff go on the smaller frame. I might look at a black powder rifle/barrel in the future if I can order that without a FFL. Since the barrel will swap with a cartridge barrel, I ain't sure how that works. Might have to go through an FFL for the frame.
