I hope I get this description correct- If something sounds fishy please tell me as I have not seen the gun yet.

It is a Smith & Wesson 5screw 4" 44magnum. A pre model 29, excellent condition. Any info/price guidelines would be greatly appreciated.

As you didn't give a guestamet of condition I'll try to help.
VG+( 85-90&)- $500
EXCL( 95 ) -600 to 700.

Anything over that-well......not too long ago I paid 975 but it was AsNew. It's real tough to grade in the higher conditions as your MINT might be 98% to me and VS VS. BEWARE of anyone that says NEW or MINT. If there is just a hint of cylinder line where the cylinder stop bolt tracked then it's neither.

Does it have the correct small ( service/magna ) grips with the diamond around the screw hole ? If so, 99% of the time they'll be stamped with the SN of the gun. If it has diamond target grips in pristine condition add $100. If it has the BLACK BOX with all tools add another 150+.

What Dewey said plus there is a premium for that 4" barrel. If it came that way. 6 1/2" barrels were much more common.
