Are there any decent rifle scopes still made in USA?

Just picked up my new Tikka T3 30-06 rifle today. I got a really good deal on it ($349 brand new :D ) so I decided to spend a little more on a scope than I normally would and get a nice one.

Now, I haven't bought any glass in awhile, so I was kind of surprised (not really) to see that even some of the mid-grade brands are made overseas now... I still like to buy American whenever possible, so does anyone know what brands are still designed and manufactured here? I could have sworn Burris was one of them but the Fullfield II I checked out said "Made in Phillipines" on the box :cuss: I really like those as I have an older one on another rifle.

I'm just looking for a medium power, fairly low profile model that will not tip the balance and lines of this nice T3. It will be used primarily for target shooting (anything up to 300 yards, maybe longer) and some hunting as well.

Any information or opinions are welcome!

Burris' Fullfield line is made in the Phillipines, but the rest of their scopes are made in the USA. Leupolds are made in the USA.

+1 on the Leupold, though not inexpensive they are outstanding. I have a 6.5 x 20 and a 4.5 x 16 both allow me to see what every I want to shoot.

The only thing I don't like about Leupold is that most of their tubes are not one-piece designs. That's not necessarily a deal-breaker, but the solid machined housings are generally more robust, have less chance of breakage, leaks, and lens mis-alignment... I used to work on military optics for a living, so I'm a little pickier on some of those details. Then again, Leupolds do have a lifetime warranty...

Leupold's glass is made in Japan, however. (Not that that is bad, it is in fact good.)

AFAIK, the Millets are made in China. Their products (the latest generation), however, do seem to be of higher quality than the regular stuff from Barska, BSA, Famous Maker, etc. They do have a better quality system set up in their Chinese supplier's manufacturing facility (from what I've been told by them and handling their products at shows).

Wouldn't US Optics be made in the U.S.? It'd be really sad if they weren't. They're also damn expensive, so they should be.

I understand Sightron is a U.S. made product.

I slapped a Leupold FX-II fixed 4x on mine and I'm pretty happy with it.

As far as I know, US Optics is the ONLY scope that is still made--100%, including the glass--in the US.

My other three favorites--Nightforce, Leupold, and Burris (minus the Fullfield line) are made here in the US, with Japanese glass.

The Leupold 4x33 is a great scope. It is a fantastic low light scope. Got two of them on my guns and they go with me on late afternoon hunts.
