So far things look good for MO residents (poor me on the KS side :( )
Two veto overides passed the house today 1 was a pro-life bill and the 2nd was MO's CCW law.
Tomorrow the senate votes, lets hope all goes well and we can add yet another state to the pro Constitution states.

Next, you need to get AR reciprocity passed...:D

Seriously, good for you....well, MO. Hopefully, you can move to somewhere that the 2nd is recognized like the others or luck into having it passed in KS.

Folks,

It's equally critical that you call the following Senator's:

Senators Michael Gibbons, Jim Mathewson, and Ken Jacobs.

Since it's unlikely Dolan will be able to make it back from Cuba on military leave, these three Senator's are the most likely to waffle on pressure.

If you are a Missouri resident, call your own Senator, urge them to vote yes on the override, as well as the three Senator's above.

If you are NOT a Missouri resident, call the 3 Senator's above. Let them know that you will not vacation in Branson, hunt, or do anything in Missouri, until Missouri has a CCW law.

Senator Gibbons: (573)751-2853

Senator Mathewson: (573) 751-4771

Senator Jacob: (573) 751-2131

Well, lets be a smidge more cordial. Lets say that we hear that vacationing in MO is great, but we cant do so lest we become instant felons. We would like to contribute to the tourist-income bottom line of the state, but it isnt worth "going without protection"/"instant felony". Dear senator, wont you please let me come and enjoy your lovely state?

While I will be the first to say that I would dearly love to say "Join the United States and let your subjects know freedom", its just not the most productive manner in which to achieve desired results.

Gray Peterson
September 11, 2003, 02:32 PM
What Mr. Jacob forgets to mention was that the Missouri constitution of 1871 was adopted by RACISTS with RACIST intent. CCW charges were NEVER filed against white people, only blacks.

He also says that there's going to be a constitutional challenge against the law, using the "Shall not justify the carrying of concealed weapons" part of the RKBA provision in the constitution. Hogwash.

He says that the CCW bill is a slap in the face to the electorate. Sorry, the rights of people to self defense is not subject to a vote, Mr. Jacobs.

Anyway, right this second, Senate Majority Gibbons (the guy who voted no in the first part), it's looking like he's changing his vote to yes for the override, because he's supporting it on the floor now.

You know what we need:

Black women to support the second amendment. It's painful to listen to this black female anti-gunner try to defend a law that was passed to help her ancestor's get LYNCHED.

Listening to the debate, it makes me wonder if a way could be found to harness all that hot air.
Do you think the heating bill is any less in the MO Senate chamber during the winter? Or do they have to air condition year round?
Does the hot air from the left side of the aisle have a higher energy content than that from the right side?

Raising their voices now, getting loud, vociferous.

I just told packing.org this is too cool. I almost could not believe the antis in this debate. They said some crazy things.

The bleating of the sheeple will be a sight to see!

Indeed. The anti crowd will scream bloody murder and predict mayhem at every stoplight. Their research on the issue apparently consists of watching people play Grand Theft Auto III.

I didn't have my hopes up that it would pass, since it was contingent on Dolan getting leave from his Guard unit and on Gibbons changing his mind. We really sent a message to Bob Holden. There were THREE veto overturns today. That doubles the number in all of Missouri's history.

Excellent.

I just emailed the Attorney General to attempt to determine if my permit will still be recognized, as I am under the age of 23. Will post his response here.

Congrats. Mo. A veto overide to boot! In retrospect it was an error several years ago to put this to a vote. Never give the sheeple a vote on basic rights, not even if it is a slam dunk. Even though the vote against was close the anti's tried to beat you over the head with it like was some sort of mandate. There are still states that need this sort of legislation(I live in Maryland for one example). Now there are so many states that have gone shall issue why can't we shame our lawmakers in to passing these laws. Can we ask the legislature if the citizens of Md. Nj. Ny. Ks. Ws. etc. if we are to stupid and irresponsible for CCW? Was this argument brought up during the debates? Al
