My son has taken possession of my 11-87 so I had to break out the Ruger All Weather that I bought a few years back. Now I don't know if I got old or if its the synthetic stocks or the way its stocked but boy does that baby kick.
Anyway does anyone have any experience with the recoil reducing pads.
I've seen advertised, Decelerators, Limbsavers, and Kick eez pads but I have no experience with any of these.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

A synthetic stock will be lighter than a wood stock. Adds to the felt recoil. Only ever used old fashioned screw on pads on an 870 myself. Used a slip on on my '03A4 briefly. Both work just fine. So will any of the newer pads. Putting one of 'em on will be a whole lot less expensive than a new stock. You might be able to add a bit of weight in the butt stock too. Just remember that a pad will add about an inch of length to the stock.

There's a few Decellerators there on divers shotguns,MLs and a carbine. Universally a good thing.

A couple Limbsaver (Sims) pads here are good also.

Any input on the X-Coil? I just heard about it on another site. Kinda sounds like they're all good with the usual personnel preference.

I put a Limbsaver on my old 20 gauge for my 10 year old. She says it kicks less than .410 now. So I gotta think its working pretty well, because she can be a sissy sometimes. :)

Limbsavers work well. I had one put on a Spartan 12g coach gun.

make sure it is made of Sorbothane. As a mechanical engineer I've used this material in several designs to dampen vibration. Sorbothane is an incredible dampning material. Its NOT just soft rubber.... it actually dampens the energy, not charges a rubber spring. I've had great luck Sims brand on my 1895GS 45-70

I got the Knoxx recoil reducing stock for my 870, and it works perfectly. Shooting slugs used to be something that brought tears to my eyes, but with this stock, it is not painful anymore.

You can pair up a Knoxx with one of the above recoil pads to *really* make it easy on your shoulder but I think that's overkill unless you plan on shooting a lot of magnum loads.

I will give it a try. I want to see how it feels with my hunting gear on. I need to re-sight anyway. I use a red dot on my slug gun.

I prefer Limbsavers over Decelerators. I've used both, and both work well, but the Limbsaver seems to feel more comfortable.

Well, I received the stock and foregrip. Not difficult to replace stock except the plastic where the bolt goes though had a half in piece broken off. The other complaint is that the Knoxx website does not tell you to measure the existing foregrip. If a certain size you need an adaptor for Hogue for another $10. I'm not concerned too much about the 10, it's the $6 dollars for shipping when I would have liked to have ordered it at the same time. :(

I have a limbsaver that can be sanded to fit. It is sitting in my parts drawer in case I ever buy a DB 12.

I bought a put on/take off recoil pad from LLBean, Kick-Killer brand.

Shot 2 rounds of skeet with it & though it worked very well.

All leather wraps around and fastens w/velcro. Has some type of foam inside.
