New shotgun or stock up for my AR?

I will soon have around $500 to play with. I have an AR, SKS, MN 91/30's, 10/22, 9mm pistol and BP rifle.
As you can see, I'm missing a shotgun. I've been reading the 870/500 discussions. I like the 500 as the LOP feels better and I like the control positions. It would fit the roles of HD, pheasant and deer.
Here's the dilemma. With $500, I could stock up on 5.56 and get a few more PMags or I could invest in the shotgun and be fully stocked for that. I like the shotty idea but 5.56 isn't getting any cheaper.

Posting in a "shotgun" area should get shotgun jaded replies.
If you post the same question in an AR forum I think we know what the replies would be.;)
I think you already know the answer by your original post: "As you can see, I'm missing a shotgun."
And as Dave has stated: "Everybody needs a pumpgun..... "
Now the REAL dilema.... Which one?:neener:
Cabela's has an 870 Express for $250 or Mossberg w/ home defense barrel and 28" vent rib barrel for $320.
$500 will get you a nice pump AND several cases of ammo.

Right now I'd like to get either a Mossberg M590 or Winchester 1200 trench gun like I carried in the Marines. However, with the election closing in and the possibility of an Obamination on the horizon, I'm putting my money towards the evil stuff (AR-10 mags and another FAL upper) first. If we see another AWB like we did in 1994, these are the things likely to be targeted. Shotguns...not so much so my 590 and 1200 will wait for now.

tough choice...i have multiples of most EBR's, so I picked up a 590 this morning, along with a surefire and side saddle...didn't have a good sg for home defense and the 590 fits the bill perfectly for me...
......if it was me, i'd get a sg...have fun spending the $$$ either way...:)

Yeah, it the way I'm leaning. My biggest thing against getting shotty is the fit. I'm 5'8" with average length arms, but I like the fit of a carbine. It feels awkward to me to reach out. My natural way of holding a rifle makes me want to hold the nearest point of the shotty forearm with my fingers resting on the tube mag.

Get a Mossberg 500a tactical or a Rem 870 tactical...nice collapsible stock..fits nice in the shoulder...great pump guns.

If you don't have a shottie, er, I mean shotgun, I would suggest on getting one. It is fun to shoot and a nice addition to the personal collection.
