My REM 870 Marine Magnum is with a gunsmith right now because of WOLF 12GA AMMO! :what: Do not use WOLF shells in your 870. :(

The shell (not exactly up to specs) keeps getting lodged in the barrel and the extractor fails. The action then freezes. Rendering your shotgun useless. Discount ammo such as "Sellior & Bellot" is good, "PMC" brand is fine also, but pass on the WOLF.

In trying to save a few bucks I now find myslef with a troubled weapon. :mad:

Wolf ammo has always been marginal. I did not like Wolf 9mm out of my pistol, and I refuse to buy anything by Wolf, unless I have an SKS or CommBloc AK47.

Can you please explain the failure in a little more detail? Does the round fail to extract from the chamber when the action is opened? Or is it that, after firing, the action simply siezes and cannot be opened?

hmmmm considering that you can buy 12ga winchester at walmart for 15 dollars for 100.....why shoot anything else :D. Well atleast for "play" ammo or light skeet work..

Wolf shotgun ammo is not produced in Russia like their pistol ammo it is produced by some german firm so quality is a lot better.
I've put over 400 Wolf Dove &Quail 7 3/4, 30+ power buckshot, and 50+ slugs through my Benelli Nova and have not had any problem with it except for short stroking. I've seen other guys with 870s put other Wolf birdshot and slugs without a problem.

Sorry for the lack of detail but from what he told me on the phone, the shell casing (the brass) is not a precise fit. It gets stuck in the barrel. This shuts down the whole action. :what:

I have to go pick it up in about 2 weeks. When I do I will give you guys ALL the details. In the meantime, Im sorting through about a thousand rounds of WOLF 00 buck to pass off to someone who can use it at a shooting range. I cant use them. WONT.

Did you try inserting a cleaning rod down the barrel and tapping the end with a rubber mallet? This technique works great when my Garand rips the rim off of a cartridge. Since the hammer is down, the action should be unlocked. If you're still in doubt, just hold down the slide release while you tap with the hammer.

I would be sure to ask the 'smith how he handled it.

The action froze on me once. I disassembled it, used a cleaning rod, removed the shell and put it together. I then worked 6 shells through it and on the 5th shell, STUCK. My God, to think that I had this gun by my side on duty and it wasnt working. :( This is a valuable lesson for me. BIG TIME.

When I see the gunsmith, I will have him explain to me everything there is to know, and I will pass it on. ;)

PS- the fifth shell was worked hard. I really slapped the action hard on that shell. Thats were the poor fit came into play. :banghead:

Wow ya mean there is ANOTHER gunsmith out there that thinks that Wolf ammo is crap?...from the howls of outrage that come from the Wolf aficianados every time I mention how many Wolfized guns we see, I thought I was a liar..

Only weapon I own that I use Wolf ammo in is my Mosin-Nagant M-44.

Sort of my policy...Commie bloc ammo in Commie Bloc weapons. Although I have used quite a bit of Sellier & Bellot in both my Ruger KP-90 & Springfield 1911-A1. (Wasn't the Czech Republic part of the old USSR?)

As long as you guys are passing on Wolf ammo please make sure not to buy any of their 22 ammo. The stuff that's made in Germany by SK.

Leave it for the rest of us that know it's good stuff and don't want the price to go any higher on this particular kind of 22 ammo.
