Well I finally tracked down a good deal on a P5 so my Munich Olympic pistol trials group is complete.
Here is the whole gang looking very business like and well, German.

What's the P5 thing, a .380 Walther?
What caliber is the Sig?
I thought about doing the same thing, with the P7, USP9F, USP9C, P2000, and USP Tactical (well I'd have to settle for a 45F) but I forget their corresponding P numbers and I don't like their safety configuration.

I suppose those are the P-5, P-6 (?) & P-7...
Nice collection you have there!
A P-8, P-9 and P-10 would complete the line-up, though ;)

All pistols are 9x19mm, single stack 9 shot semi automatics. All were designed after the terrorist attack at the Munich Olympics for German law enforcement.
I love single stack handguns and all three of these pistols fit me like a glove with the SIG being the most comfortable.
The SIG is the most traditional while the other two guns have some pretty neat features.
The P7 is well a P7 see any number of threads on that.
The P5 uses one button to both drop the slide and decock the weapon.
They are all very cool.
I don't really have a hankering to collect all the P pistols but I really liked these three and feel that they are kind of different. All are elegant and sort of unique in their own way. All make awesome carry guns.

I've never seen that Walther before, should I forget about getting one until I leave occupied territory?

cslinger,
technically, the P7 of the German police trials is a P7PSP, the variant with heel-mounted magazine release. So, if you're a purist, you have to get one more model. ;)

Hey, Marko, did the P6 have a heel release at the time, like the Euro 220/BDA did?

No, oddly enough, the P6 was the only pistol of the lineup with an American-style magazine release.

Hm. I guess I'd never really thought about it before... Wonder if that's about the same time they went to the American style release on the 220, too?
Anyhow... Cool pistols, cslinger! Best get crackin' on that PSP, though. :D

MSRP from back in the late 80's early 90's was between 1050 and 1200, depending on who you bought from and how bad you hated import stamps. I got one in the early 80's thanks to takin up Uncle Sam's on an all expense paid extended trip to the land beer and boar. Don't ask what I paid, you might cry :)

In the early 80s--I didn't know how to pee pee or speakey Engrish yet (mom didn't trust Whitey  ) I woulda snagged a boatload of HK91s und HK93s!!
Do they still make these P5s new? Or are they all 1980s production?

Full size P5s are out of production as far as I know. The compacts are still in production but are tough to come by and pricy to say the least.

The Bundes Grenz Schutz (BGS) which are Federal border guards, including airports, carry what they call the P6, which we know as the SIG-Sauer P225, single-stack, in 9mm, along with the Hk MP-5. I had an interesting chat with a BGS officer recently. They fel like they're ready for anything!

I have the P5 AND the other two are sitting my dealer's case. But, I have not the funds to buy either one at this time and not for the forseeable future!!! :banghead:
