anybody got any ideas for loading for the new savage model 12 FTR? I just got one and if anyone has any suggestions it would help loading with the longer barrel an tighter chamber , i think i will start with bullets in the 150 to 168 gr. catagory:)

Seeing how you have the slightly slower 1:12 twist, I would suggest you go with the 155 Scenar or 155 SMK. I have a friend with a very well set up 700 with hand lapped 1:12" Hart barrel. Though his does stabilize the 168s, it handles the 155s much, much better.

I'd check Savageshooters.com.

Both of mine shoot 168 Berger VLDs better than any 155s or Sierra 168s.
Mine are earlier ones and they are 1 in 10" twist (I measured it).
Check the twist yourself!

I'd check the Long Range target shooting and savageshooters forums.

155smk with 44.0gr of 4064
168 BTHP 41.4 or 43.0gr 4064
RL 19 and RL 22 are slower than recommended.
155smk 43.2gr (compressed, max) 3031
168bthp 42.0gr (max) 3031
