No but I've heard of the flame thrower shells and the starburst, the SBs go out to 40yds then explode, that might be the flash bangs you're tlking about

quote from the website here

This is 12 Gauge Flash Bang Ammo. This ammo is manufactured by A.L.S. Technologies, the leader in Less Than Lethal and diversionary ammo. This highly effective diversionary 12 gauge round produces a stun/diversion effect by using a bright blinding flash with an extremely powerful concussion blast from a 12 gauge shotgun muzzle. This device is not restricted by the BATF and is used by prison units and SWAT teams around the world. It produces a 182dB bang, 1.5 to 2 million candlea flash and pressures over 1.5 to 2 atmospheric pressure units. It is truely an awesome experience indoors and out. Hearing protection is required when firing this ammo, it is extremely loud.

Whole bunch of stuff here. But for the most part exotic shot shells are just novelty items
