Limbsaver "precision fit" fitment?

I've been looking at the Limbsaver templates, trying to determine the right model number. The pad that appears to fit the shape of the stock the best is listed as a pad for wood stocked guns, whereas mine is synthetic.
Is there any good reason why it wouldnt work? Is the molded ridge that sticks inside the stock all that important? As long as the pad evenly contacts around the outer edges of the stock, it should work, right?

I never was satisfied with the one I tried to make fit. The hollow synthetic stock was always a problem because there was not enough thickness to prevent one side or the other from eventually falling into the hollow place. So, I went and bought the right model that has the lip that fits into the stock like the original. I don't remember the price, although I remember it was not cheap. The synthetic stocks are more popular now than when I tried it. I was trying to make something work that just wasn't a good idea then. I bet now they sell a model that will fit your shotgun. If not, then go with a new wood buttstock and use the pad you have. Good Luck!
