SIG P239 grip removal

Is it safe for the novice to remove the grip "panels" from a SIG P239 during general cleaning/lubing? I don't think the owner's manual even makes mention of it.
In humid weather I tend to get sweat on the weapon while carrying and would like to give the thing a good wipe-down "under the grips."
Thank you for any help/advice! :)

Go ahead, just be careful not to dislodge the spring under the grip. You'd really have to try to pop it loose, but it is a bit disconcerting the first time you pull off the grips and there it is sticking out there!
But, I've taken my grips off many, many times for cleaning sessions w/o any problems.

I'd highly recommend it. You can get to a few key lube points only by removimg your right grip panel.
Just be cautious with the decocker. Some folks have broken their decockers off by pulling the panel outwards too quickly. :what:
Depressing the decocker halfway will give you a little more wiggle room.

Sig recommends not taking the grips off every time you clean.
