How does one prevent the head of Tomahawks from sliding back down the shaft after the impact of throwing???
I bought a rifleman's hawk from Cold Steel and it would do this.
A fellow recommended using wedges, I did so the the shaft split and cracked so much I had to use epoxy wood to repair it.

It still slides down the shaft after throws!!!!

I have some replacement shafts ordered...how to I secure the head on it???

Maybe if ya post a pic of it one of these genious's can give you an idea. Is it designed to be thrown? Can you soak it?

Probably a badly made/cured shaft. The shaft should be wide enough to wedge the axe head into place.

You may want to use a thin wood shim inside the shaft (pointing up) & then force the head onto the shaft. Use another shim on top to secure the whole thing.
