New Glock 27 with night sights off Gunbroker.com -

$508 + $15 shipping + $20 FFL = $543

Best deal I could get locally was $599 plus tax.

You paid $543 for a gun that you could have bought locally for $599. For you, it was a great deal. I am sure someone will step up and tell you about the great deal they got on a Glock for $50, but it sounds like you did alright. Gun prices can vary widely from one area to another.

Most glocks around here are over $500. And it sounds about right. You are probably not adding sales tax on that $599 either.

A local dealer would want something for his time, trouble and investment. Most good ones charge about 10% which I think is fair. So if you add that to what you spent the numbers add up. Except for the tax.

The threshold of good deal status for me is when I add 10% to what I paid and it comes below what the local fair minded dealers and gun show prices are. So, If you add the tax, my scientific formula says yes indeed you have achieved Good Deal status.

Good Job! -bevr

Right, $599 doesn't include tax. VA tax is 4.5% so my limited math skills put the total damage at about $630 if I bought it in the store. It seems tough for the gun stores to beat Internet pricing, even with FFL/shipping.

I went to another gun shop in my area and they wanted about $540 before tax for the same Glock without night sights. :scrutiny: The guy behind the counter said, we don't have one with night sights but I can order one for you.....

Uh, right, I'll think about it, I said. See ya....

Best definition of a "good deal":

Buyer is satisfied with what he purchased and what he paid for it.

Seller is satisfied with what he received for the item he sold.

Both parties involved are satisfied = good deal. To hell with what anyone else thinks or says.
